The church dates back to the 13th Century and was originally a Priory Church housing a college of friars. The monks had gone by 1536. Evidence of the the remains of their monastery can still be spotted on the north side of the church but a large part of it now forms the Swan Inn.
The tower was dates to around 1488 and stands just over 100ft high,
The font dates from the thirteenth century and is made from Purbeck marble.
In the nave is the tomb of Sir Roger de Bois and his wife Margaret who died in 1300 and 1315 respectively though it has been suggested that their monument was not made until at least a generation later. On the north side of the chancel is the tomb of Sir Oliver de Ingham.
